May I ask what type of agency handles this work? I temped a lot at one point. It was all clerical. The extra income was very handy. During college, I'd sign up to temp every day I had off. It gave me money for hair color, things my parents could not afford.

I always planned on going to college. My mom was expelled from high school at fourteen b/c of the flag salute. Her dreams were to be a teacher/fashion designer. She worshipped education. My parents demanded As or else. There was no plan for me. I attended a very poor urban high school. Many colleges reached out to the pool of black students. I went along for the trip. Univ. of Penn. treated us to a tour and the Penn Relay games We were given a nice box lunch. The black students included me more than other whites b/c my grandmother lived in the projects.
Other influences were the civil rights movement and the antiwar movement. Newspapers and TVs showered attention on elite colleges. Later, when I majored in Political Science, I found out that most college students supported the war in Viet Nam. The children of the lealders, the future leaders, were an aberration. My college was completely shut down and buildings seized in 1968. Columbia is still the subject of many documentaries. I was very impressed at the time. Now when I see footage, I weep at the tragedy.
Another key factor was a te,en fashion magazine that had editors write complimentary things about their alma mater. I chose Columbia b/c of the write up in the fashion spread and I adored NYC. When the Witness stuff became too heavy, I'd run to Manhattan.
I did not want to major in Political Science. My feeling was that it was too stereotypicaisl. Most majors had prerequisites, such as math or a foreign language. It was the easier major I could find. I paid a heavy price for attending such a sham of a high school. I cherish the opposite culture of the WTBTS. We were constantly told that hard questions were the best questions.

I never know what to do. Perhaps b/c it is a judgment call from the gut, not an objective test. Typically, I plot like crazy to better myself. All of my spare time is devoted to escaping for something better. I had a not glamorous job after college. The administrative assistant was a sourpuss. I did not graduate a top college to type. I would type all day and my mind would run in circles about all my problems all day. The work was not challenging. She was brusque and had airs. It was not clear to me, but very apparent to others that she felt threatened by my superior education. She hired me b/c I had an elite degree but she did not want any of the culture surrounding it. She really needed a junior high school student.
My long term plan was law school. So I studied extremely hard for the law boards, paid for tutoring, taught myself percentages b/c my high school was very bad. I attended seminars. Any excuse I had I trekked back to campus. There was some synchronicity. I was interviewed for a federal civil service job at the same time she fired me. Three months later, I started law school on full scholarship. My mind would be agitated. I did not know where I truly be selonged.
The sadder tale occurred recently. I have an extended period of disability. Money was very tight when I needed to purchase a new car. A special program for disabled was set up for driver license renewals. I only could do it if I viewed it as a temporary measure. The supervisor was by far the worse I have ever encountered. Some old foes have been elevated greatly. She had no business manners. Queen Bee was her attitude, the same problem after college, but 2000 times worse. It was a hostile work environment. She actually screeched at us. We were constantly berated. News that she might be present sent all workers in to a tailspin. There were labor law violations. My bathroom time was monitored for the first time in my life. It was assembly line work. She turned us all againt each other.
I started hyperventilating. Insomnia struck. The original disability contact begged me to leave. He feared my pain would recur from the stress. The state spent $4,000. in job coaches for a simple job. It was demeaning. My guts told me to leave the first day. I did not want to be prissy college student and felt pressure from family members to continue. Years of nice jobs in corporate America left me with a different culture. I stayed and stayed. My health suffered. Finally, I had a series of minor accidents with the car. My premiums soared so that I think I lost income on the job. Finally, I submitted notice that I was leaving to study for the state bar exam. Some twerp accused me of lying about whether I could see a diagram imprinted on machinery. The lighting was very poor and i needed magnification. It was the last straw. I walked out. With the exception of my sister, everyone was glad. I questioned whether I was meant to have nice things. My education gave me options that others did not.

The futility of political debate on an ex-JW forum
by willyloman inthis is a forum for fomer jehovah's witnesses.
that is a cult that drills into its members the concept that the political process is evil, delusional, selfish, greedy, and satanic.
it's fascinating to hear so many political naifs express themselves with such certainty and fervor.

00 Justimia Themis,
You are on the homestretch. After first year, it is a snooze. I recall that I never watched TV first year, while 3d year students gathered together to watch the nightly news. Working is a cinch after 1st year. It is hazing.
My finals were very surprising. They were not difficult but profs grade on a mandatory bell curve. Typically, out of 500 points, an A to a D would be divided by only four points. You realize how arbitrary it all is. I did well but I'm compulsive. Never did I think I mastered the subject better than someone else.
I'm still friends with classmates. It was the first place I ever fit in completely. Best of luck (you will need it). Actually, I was stunned by how easy it was.

When I watch Tea Baggers on TV, the budget is rarely mentioned. Almost all of the hoopla is about a side issue, birth of Obama. From what I know of economics, life is not so simple. Fiscal restraint, balanced with growth, is an important concern.

Michelle Bachmann pulls my cool triggers. My biggest disgust is with public officials who claim Obama was not born in the States based on nothing, aboslutely nothing. Ignorant people can believe he was born In Kenya. Ignorant with a very hefty dose of racism. Certain people know better, Michelle B is one, Trump is another. It is such a ridiculous presumption that no one with education can doubt he is a US citizen. Stirring up the base when you know better is disgusting. Trump never gave a damn before he decided to make an even bigger idiot of himself.
There are many conservatives that I respect. William F. Buckley Jr was one. Politics isn't so much about objective facts as determing policy. Reasonable people can disagree. John Quincy Adams was raised overseas but no one ever made a point of it. This is about a black man winning the presidency. I'd look at his policies but some people can't reconcile that he won a fair election (unlike George W. Bush). Get over it. Talk about your ideas and your beliefs. I resisted white racists in the Deep South and I will resist the tea bag people.

My point is that we are cultural supremacists. We value certain things in Western culture, literacy is a big one. It is hard for us to comprehend but an oral tradition can be just as rich and accurate. I've specialist in development of the NT. Ehrmann is way outside the scholarship. I have read a few of his works but don't remember the details. If I were Eastern, I'd remember. Probably, the main thesis of his work is that the Bible did not descend from heaven with God's personal handwriting and magic seal. The assertion that the authors were committing fraud is ludicrous. He knows his assertion is not accurate. Such assertions market books.
I like sexy gossip, too. The problem is when one believes it.

I disagree and will use myself as a shining example. Political Science was my major at Columbia. NYU Law awarded me a full scholarship for public interest law. I always read the New York Times, supplemented by the Wall St. Journal, Vanity Fair and New Yorker. I read the Economist when I can affo'rd it. B/c of my interest, I attend frequent public events at history museums. I've been a lifelong Dem, working in many campaigns. The Dems paid for me to attend professional campaign school. Election Days I volunteer for the legal protect the vote effort.
I worked for the U.S. Senate Subcommittee on the Constitution and the National Organization for Women Legal Defense Fund. Presently, I volunteer for a disabled rights group. I read voraciously in my chosen areas. Since I am a lawyer, I must take continuing legal education courses. Writing legal briefs and oral advocacy are stressed.
I see myself as professional civil rights movement worker. During the Viet Nam war, I attended every demonstration in NY and DC. We lobbied Congress and the White House. I also engaged in demonstrations concerning pro choice rights.
My soul would love to have philosopher-kings in Plato's Republic rule. It probably is not a good idea. IN contrast to the past, we do not require criteria for the franchise. People used to be male, white, own substantial property and pay poll taxes. We probably have a more effective and robust democracy for enlarging the franchise. Gut feelings are just as valid as intellectual pretension for voting and political involvement. Better civics instruction would be a wonderful idea. People can be politically engaged witthout knowing details. This system has worked well for a long time in the US. It is distributive justice. Obama was hard to pin down. Many believe he walked on water. Yet he has a center based government.
I cherish my rights precisely b/c the Witnesses denied them. Imagine me, a mere female, having degrees that the schools paid for me, reading ritzy newspapers. I revel in the power. Being an ex-Witness can be a source of assets. Once burned by thought control, one is unlikely to repeat the same mistake. I don't think the majority here represent a specific party. We have cumulative wisdom born of our agony as Wiitnesses. When I started working at the Senate, I spied the capitol dome and started to cry. I interacted with many Senators. Me, the Witness. Only, not the Witness anymore. My education does not entitled me to skewed, multiple votes. Wisdom comes from the people.
Now, I know members here sometimes believe in the Tea Party. They don't post "this is my opinion." It is the price of a democracy. No one ever claimed that democracy was not messy. George WAshington ensured election to the House of Burgress in VA by buying massive amounts of alcohol for voters. Mike Bloomberg, mayor of NY, spent over $200/voter. I joked to his campaign to just hand me the cash. Overall, I am certain members here are good citizens.

Is there Attorney-client privilege for communications sent directly to Bethel legal?
by sinis inif a person retained a lawyer to draft up a document indicating that they no longer want to be an enrolled member (jw's) and therefore annul their baptsim, and send it certified mail directly to an individual named lawyer sitting at bethel, would they not be protected under attorney-client privilege and therefore non disclosure of the information with a third party?
i would think if this was the case and the information was forwarded to the boe, could not the bethel attorney be sanctioned or disbarred?.

I am a lawyer. There is a list of exacting criteria for attorney-client privilege. You aren't interested in privilege, which prevents someone from testifying against you. Confidentiality is a related concept. The criteria are different for every jurisdiction. Your state may have a variation. FindLaw may have have a listing of black letter law criteria. But no state has black letter law anymore.
As someone noted, your lawyer may have confidentiality and attorney-client privilege concerning you. The Watchtower lawyer would have it only as it relates to the Watchtower or key persons at the Watchtower.
When I was in college studying political science, I volunteered at legal agencies. Since we were discussing jurisprudence in class, I thought I knew law. I freely gave legal advice. It was so easy. After one week in law school, I slunk in my chair and felt tremendous guilt. If it is important to you, consult a lawyer. Many lawyers do free consultations for about forty-five minutes. If I answer your question, I am responsible for the veracity and can be sued if I am wrong. This is why lawyers don't give legal advice. Unless someone hears all the facts (and you can't know exactly which facts are pertinent), the advice is flawed.

Erhmann knows better. Stating that the Bible was forged bring headlines and is salacious. Most likely, the gospels were not written by the New Testament characters we know. Someone could use their name to indicate a teaching tradition withhin the Church associated with the apostle. We discussed Western thought vs. Eastern though in our Lenten Bible Study last night. The authors are Middle EAstern, not Roman. Different modes of thought are displayed. We believe in strict, written documentation in the West and a story line from early to late with many details. I am trained in Western thought as an American lawyer. An Eastern mindset is not inferior. No one would believe that these NT characters wrote the gospels. We don't know enough about their culture.
Ehrmann knows better. He reminds of a birther. I don't despite those who out of ignorance believe Obama was born in Kenya in the deep jungle. It is sad that they are ignorant. When someone knows better and they play to a crowd for political points, I despise them. Hitler played to the German people in the same way.
Just b/c we did not have the NY Times, Wall St. Journal and Vanity Fair cover New Testament times, it does not mean the people were stupid and dense. A lifespan was still a lifespan.
